First let me say that it has been a pleasure for Marc and I to have been able to visit
with you each week. The show lasted a year and looking back we can see that the show went from
tentative to confident and from no following to a loyal following.
Many of you have called or met Marc and I at our stores or e-mailed us and the message has
always been the same; You enjoyed the show, had made time during the week to listen live or download
it off the web site and everybody wanted to know where we went and what happened.
Here's the situation. We had two basic problems; first due to a weak signal many simply couldn't
tune in. A notable example of this was our East County audience; they simply couldn't
reliably get the signal and with high speed internet connections a seldom thing in the back country,
downloading the show was out of the question as well. This meant that a huge portion of our gun owner
audience simply couldn't get the show. Secondly, we were generating revenue for the station but the
show was not covering it's own production costs.
When the sponsor contracts expired we were offered an alternative one hour time slot. Neither the
time slot of 12pm to 1pm nor the prospect of cutting the show in half appealed to us so we declined
the offer.
Aside from enjoying the time off, we are actively assessing our options which include:
a) Looking to sign additional sponsors - they need not be in the gun industry; people like doing business with other gun owners!
b) Looking for a decent time slot on a more powerful station.
c) Converting the show to a podcast.
d) Discontinuing the show altogether.
Check this web site from time to time as any change in status will be posted here.
We are grateful for the opportunity to have had an impact on the legislative process
during 2009 and we look forward to the next opportunity to serve our community of Patriots
and stand with you in the defense of the United States Constitution.
On behalf of myself and Marc Halcon, we thank you for listening!
Best Regards,
Ron Godwin
The last two shows 2/14/10 and 2/28 are now posted in the archives. 2/21/10 was a best of.
R
Featuring Ron Godwin (left) and Marc Halcon (right).
Ron and Marc each have their own unique perspectives on legislative issues, candidates,
firearms and equipment, tactics and anything else gun related.
They have collected the wealth of information gun store customers and clerks dispense
back and forth across the gun counter each day and added their own experiences -
gained from years of working within the firearms industry and their own personal
adventures (and not a few mishaps!) while shooting, hunting, competing and reloading
both as firearms enthusiasts and firearms professionals.
They draw on the lessons learned while surviving the various governmental agencies and
bureaucracies and the myriad and confusing gun laws arrayed against gun owners and dealers
and the 2nd Amendment.
And they share it all with On Target Radio listeners. In short, when it
comes to guns and politics you'll be hard pressed to find two radio show hosts
more opinionated than Ron & Marc!
Ron is a retired U.S. Navy Chief, Submarines & Surface Warfare Qualified, a former Reserve law enforcement
Sergeant, with 15 years of experience in the gun industry. He has served as a military and law enforcement
instructor and currently is an NRA certified personal protection in the home and pistol instructor and a
California DOJ Firearms Instructor and Instructor Trainer and the Secretary of the California Association of Firearms Retailers (CAFR).
In his "spare time" he manages the El Cajon Gun Exchange.
Marc Halcon is the owner and operator of the American Shooting Center
and the President of the California Association of Firearms Retailers (CAFR). Marc is a
firearms forensics expert, a noted firearms and tactics instructor for the U. S. Military,
civilian corporations, and the shooters of San Diego. Marc's training and instruction
courses are in demand all over the world. Marc is an avid big game hunter, shooting
enthusiast, and long time defender of the Second Amendment. Marc has no spare time.
